Eye Surgery and Update

Ok! Another update, as promised. We took the puppies to the vet yesterday; we got the worst vet in the joint. He basically insisted on being pessimistic about everything right down to the fact he kept insisting that Isa was just a retard and not worth the time of day. I was so ticked by the time we left there that I could’ve spit, but anyways, turns out that the newest rescued puppy – whom is still unnamed, will require eye surgery to help fix her eye. She has a ruptured ulcer, and the cyst like blister on her eye is the inside of her eye poking out. She will never be able to see out of that eye again, but this surgery should smooth out the blister and keep it from leaking and causing the eye to shrivel and lead to complete removal of the eye. We are looking at around $150 for the surgery; we did get a $100 discount on the surgery though so we are happy about that. They are also letting us do it in payments because we honestly wouldn’t be able to pay it right out. Isa is improving drastically, she spent most of today walking around the house and really only stumbled a couple times!

Rest, Relaxation

Today we are taking both puppies to the vet for check-ups, we are taking the newest Rescue (still unnamed) to get her eye checked out and see what anti-biotic might be needed for her. We are hoping it is nothing too severe, but we are prepared to hear whatever the vet might have to say. The vet plan got delayed yesterday; younger sibling wanted me to take her to the movies. However, along with tuxedo fitting we are taking them to the vet. Everything is looking pretty good so far as far as health wise; tonight’s vet visit will give a better in depth look at how things are going.

Isa's on the move

Isa’s on the move, her little legs are taking her places now – at 4 weeks, she is trucking right along with a few tumbles and spills which is expected of a puppy as small and weak as her. Things are looking up for the mighty little fighter; Isa is one step ahead of us with her short little steps. Certainly a cheerful sight for us as we are working hard to make sure her life isn’t cut short.

Newly Rescued Puppy

Recently we rescued another puppy, a Great Dane Mastiff cross. She is black, similar to that of the previous rescue puppy, with a white patch on her chest and her back toes are tipped in white. She is only 5 weeks old, and is suffering from eye problems. She was rescued on 04/21/09, from Wood Heights, Missouri – she came out of a large litter of puppies, and was the only one with the eye problems. The woman, whose name will not be said, was worried that other people would not have the proper knowledge to care for her. I contacted the lady on 04/20/09 about coming to pick up the puppy; she agreed that it was best for the poor dear if she worked with me. My knowledge of younger dogs and puppies is vast since that is what I work with most when I am working through the rescue. The puppy still has yet to be named, she will be visiting the vet today (04/22/09) to make sure her eye is ok.
